The challenge

Notting Hill Genesis (NHG) is one of the largest housing associations in England, with more than 55,000 homes in Greater London alone. It was formed in 2018 by the merger of Notting Hill Housing and Genesis Housing Association, with a focus on providing decent, affordable homes for lower-income households.

The approach

NHG launched a new resident user portal, built by a third party, and then took on the ongoing work of enhancing and maintaining it. As usage grew and their development goals expanded, NHG needed to scale their in-house IT capacity — but recruiting, onboarding and training permanent and contractor staff was slow and expensive. They needed a more flexible way to resource the work.

The result

By outsourcing development capacity to Neo Technology's global teams, NHG extended their delivery capacity without the overhead of direct contractor management, and reduced contractor costs.

“We realised that we had a gap around the golden thread of data, in terms of the availability and accessibility of the data we held in seventeen different systems… That meant colleagues could immediately see all non-compliant properties.”
