The Power of Data and Analytics
Turning operational data into decisions — what to measure, what to ignore, and how to make reporting something people actually use.
Buying a platform and then looking for questions is the most common and most expensive sequence.
What data and analytics actually covers
Data and analytics (D&A) is the management, processing and analysis of data to produce insight that improves decisions, processes and outcomes. Stated that way it sounds obvious; in practice most organisations do the first two well enough and struggle with the third.
The gap is usually not analytical capability. It is that the insight arrives after the decision has been made.

Where it earns its keep
The use cases that repay investment fastest tend to be the operational ones rather than the strategic ones:
- Forecasting demand, so resource is planned rather than reacted to
- Spotting patterns across cases, where the value is in the aggregate that no individual officer would see
- Measuring what a process actually costs, as opposed to what it was budgeted to cost
- Identifying risk early, whether that is arrears, condition or churn
Why a strategy comes before tooling
Buying a platform and then looking for questions is the most common and most expensive sequence. A D&A strategy is what prevents it — a clear statement of which decisions you intend to improve, what data those decisions need, who owns it, and how quality will be judged.
Without that, an organisation ends up with several sources of truth and spends its analytical capacity reconciling them rather than answering anything.
The cloud platform question
Both major platforms — Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS — will do the job. The choice is rarely about capability and almost always about what you already use, what your people already know, and where your data currently lives.
What the cloud genuinely changes is the economics of experimentation. Storage and compute you can turn on for a fortnight and switch off means an unsuccessful analysis costs a fortnight, not a capital cycle.
Visualisation, and its limits
Power BI and tools like it are how insight reaches people who will never open a query editor, and that reach is the point. A finding nobody acts on is not insight.
The caveat: visualisation makes weak data look authoritative. A confident dashboard built on unreconciled sources will be believed and acted on, which is worse than having no dashboard. Get the foundation right first.
Delivering it
Most organisations do not have data engineers, data scientists and migration specialists sitting idle, and hiring a full team to find out whether an idea works is rarely proportionate.
That is the practical argument for delivering with a partner: the specialist capability is available for the build, and the organisation keeps the parts it will use every day.

What housing providers say
Named people at named organisations, in their own published words.
“We realised that we had a gap around the golden thread of data, in terms of the availability and accessibility of the data we held in seventeen different systems… That meant colleagues could immediately see all non-compliant properties.”
Jake Le Page Head of Building Safety Regulations Notting Hill Genesis
“Neo brought strong Dynamics 365 expertise, worked collaboratively with our internal teams and applied Microsoft best practice within a live operational environment… We would be pleased to recommend them as a Microsoft Dynamics 365 partner within the housing sector.”
Wayne Human Head of IT Change Sage Homes
“The successful deployment of this solution has significantly increased transparency and improved the operational efficiency of our contact centre, allowing us to deliver greater value to our customers.”
